Firing Pin and Spring upgrade to improve accuracy?

I know for a fact that Kelblys uses factory Rem. springs in there Panda actions. If there was something out there that was superior, I would bet the farm that they would be running that product.
I hope this helps,

Lloyd
Don't Bet On It. Kelby makes their Panda actions they did not make those firing pin assemblies. If factory made parts were Superior to anything else there would be no custom items out there on the market today.

Alot of custom actions are resembled after a Remington. Some use the footprint but alot of them use their fire control. Matt

Yep I do know many use Remingtons design. I wouldn't be surprised that they use similar bolt parts including firing pin assembly. I would think there are certain better built ones out there, (IE: Faster, stronger springs and pins). All my Remingtons have been great. My Pierce assembly is definitely a better built spring pin assembly but I do not notice better accuracy. Not being a competition shooter, I wouldn't notice this if not measuring for it. I replaced it only because after a while it became an issue of maintenance. Figured it was worn so getting a few new ones was what I did. Replaced them all at once.

I will be happy to bet whatever you can afford to lose. Not only was I told this by Jim Kelbly himself, the former lead gunsmith there Greg Walley confirmed it. To the point, Pandas use Rem. fire control parts.

Not disputing that. Only stating that there ARE better firing pin assemblies on the market. Kelby makes great products but someone said Remington makes there firing pin assembly. That may be true. I guess I'm only saying there are better assemblies than Remington. I'm no expert in any thing we are talking about. Tubb and Pierce are. They claim there systems are better than factory. Whatever that is worth, I'm not sure. Like I said, my guns never shot better from the replacement.

Gretan here. Tightened up groups in a 26" 308 Shilen bbl. All primers are not equal. Substituting one for another in a recipe can open up or tighten up groups. Remington FP's from 20 years ago were solid and weighed X. A new Remy FP is fluted and weighs 25 to 40% less. The Gretan weighs even less than that. You need a purpose built tool to change a FP on a Remy bolt or you can just get the whole thing from Gretan or Brownells. You only need a dime and a 3rd hand to screw out the whole assembly from the bolt but there are more elegant tools to do it with. I got one from Remy for $12.
