Firing Line PA

I am not an electonics person by any stretch of the imagination!! We need a portable, wireless, PA system for our range (being able to move from firing line to firing line). I have searched and the possibilities are endless, from cheap to expensive. I don't really know what I need, I know, not a lot. Suggestions? Keep in mind budget and simplicity!! Thanks,

bill

I know next to nothing about them other than our local Auctioneers have some really nice portable units that they use. If I was looking I would surely talk to some of them for opinions. It cost them money if their systems don't work.

To keep it simple to start with I would look at something like this:
There is a smaller version as well.

Depending on circumstances: is it windy all the time, wide open, do you have buildings or landscape enclosing the area, etc, will affect what works best. By that I mean using only one speaker or needing multiple speakers to point them in more than one direction - i.e. are you only communicating to the line or for everyone in the area? If the area is small one speaker may still be enough.

For a rechargeable (battery) system you would probably need to turn it off/on throughout the day to conserve battery life.

Any real electronic geek will tell you to never compromise on sound equipment, just like shooting guys will say with anything shooting related. You do get what you pay for.

But there are less expensive options and if it is going to be outdoors at a range, and portable, I wouldn't sink too much money into it.
Open and often windy. Just communicating to the firing line, but I wondered about two speakers for each end,

What about a powered megaphone / bullhorn?

Fewer pieces to lose.

Portable Karaoke machines with external speaker leads
are fairly inexpensive, Auctioneers use them. I know you
can get them in 12 volt. One was plugged into a John Deere
at a farm auction.
