Fireforming without Stock

Has anyone ever tried fireforming brass without action in stock? Do you think you could do this by holding barreled action with two hands,leather gloves on)and fireing into dirt bank. I am waiting for stock and would like to get brass prepped awhile.

I have done it,,,kinda odd at first,,and I hate to just shoot em into the ground...but...the brass doesnt know what u got the bore aimed at..ahahah.....Roger

That would depend on the caliber, I doubt I would try it with a 300 Win Mag...
Anything else on the mild side would be fine.....

Guess it depends on what you are fireforming. I shoot my 6XC fireforming loads for practice, as they shoot amazingly well. Why waste the bullet if you can put it to good use?

But otherwise, I would agree with the others, unless its a big cartridge, should work just fine.

You should be OK. I test fire barreled actions that way before stocking. It feels a bit odd, but it works.
