Firearms Developement Corp. Receivers

Many years ago, after a writeup in Precision Shooting, I bought a long 1.450" receiver with .475" and .535" bolts. I've had it for more than 15 years and am thinking about an F-class rifle on this receiver. Any thoughts? Anyone have one of these actions and what is your experience? It uses Remington pattern triggers and is quite massive with a very long(comparatively) tenon with 18tpi threads. The locking lugs are angled as opposed to being 90* like a Remington, et al. . Thanks in advance, for your replies.

That was a very good design which was also used in the Gilkes actions, I have a few of the Gilkes. The FDC (Poff) actions were well made as far as I know. It should make an interesting and accurate rifle.

Thanks German! Your comments are the best endorsement anyone could expect to receive!
I have read many of the articles you have published and am impressed with your expertise. Your comments have definitely inspired me to follow through with this action at the heart of an F class rifle and see what transpires. Charlie Poff is a fine person. We had many conversations via mail. I dont know where and what he is doing now. We lost touch. Thanks Again for your comments. Greg

Greg, thanks for your generous comments and I hope when the rifle is built that you shoot some good scores and good pictures. I would make a terrific Gun of the Week feature for this website.

I have one #5 chambered in a no turn neck 6ppc that I use as a varmint gun. The action is extremely smooth. I had to build a stock using wood from a Remington 40x. The original glass stock beat me black and blue.
