Fire Forming Virgin Brass to Chamber - Remove the Ejector?

How many of you remove the ejector plunger when you are forming your virgin brass to the chamber so you can begin your load development with once fired brass? Does this really matter and does it really create a more accurate representation of your chamber? I would think that the pressures involved would make the effect of the ejector irrelevant. I have never done this before so I have no comparison. I saw this on a video done by the guys at Primal Rights. Would this really be beneficial for me? I don't shoot 1000 yards or BR competitions. I reload for hunting and fun at the range. I do strive to make the best reloads for each of my rifles as I can.

Thanks!

If your loading just for hunting, just load and shoot. Im guessing its just a factory chamber. If its a wildcat chamber that needs fireforming, load and shoot at the game your hunting. Leave the ejector in.

They all are factory rifles. No wildcats either. Thanks for the reply.

I have started pulling the ejector from all my bench guns; there is absolutely no need for it. I also pull it from my hunting rifles when working up loads, including fire forming. A couple of months a go, a guy was watching me remove my brass by hand and asked me about it. I told him I had removed the ejector. He said, "Why didn't I think of that?" I think it works great.

Having tested it with and without over the course of thousands of ff rounds, with and without bullets my opinion is that there's no functional difference (and I'm a brass/fireform FANATIC)

Regarding "what you've seen".......... there's money to be made, in any industry, by over-complicating things. Having recognized this truth long ago, I subscribe to K.I.S.S.

Both that bolt's spring loaded parts push the case full forward in the chamber before the round fires. One is the ejector spring. The other one does if there is no ejector in the bolt face.

I probably need to reiterate, it is my opinion that the single secret to truly straight ff'd cases is crush-fit. And that this crush overrides all the little tensions and clearances inherent to the system

All my new rimless bottleneck cases are a crush fit when first fired. Even with a few thousandths head clearance to the bolt fave.

They're also that same crush fit and head clearance to bolt face after bumping their shoulders back about .002" then firing them again after reloading them.

Very straight cases either way.

For a hunting rifle , I wouldn't remove the ejector . On a benchrest rifle loaded one round at a time then yes , the round lays on the follower an you don't have to catch your cases . Keep your hunting rifle as is .don't size lower then .002 case headspace. That's my 2 cents
