Fire forming 30br?

Philly

Hello all, I want to build a 30br. I've have built three 6br's and love them but I have the itch (and reamer) to build the 30. I've looked around and I see different approaches to form the brass. I have a lot of 6br brass that's already primed and ready to go that I think I'd like to fire form rather than expand. So, I've never fire formed brass before. Well, here's my approach this far: I'll be cutting a chamber from a scrap barrel in order to fire form, throw it on an action and boom.( as I wait for a new barrel) . So, here's kinda my question, Do I need to fill the case with Cream-of wheat or whatever or can I just shoot into the air with aa little powder and a wax plug? Anyway, I know there's a wealth of information on this forum and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Prep your cases, load 34.0 H4198, lands making a tiny mark on the bullet and go shoot a match. Now you have cases and may or may not need additional load development.

Just throw in about 16 grains of Bullseye, take a small piece of a paper towel and roll it between your fingers into a ball then stick it in the neck to hold the powder in the case, throw the cartridge in the chamber. Point it up towards the sky and pull the trigger. All that other bullshit with wax plugs and cream of wheat is not needed. Some people make a big project out of it and it's not necessary. The cases come out to about 1.543 long vs the usual 1.523 if you just use an expander. Trim 10 thousands under you chamber length and your good to go.
