I shoot F class and hate having to make multiple trips back to the vehicle to get all my gear. I've seen other guys' carts and have come up with my own idea to suit my needs. I just figured I'd share what I came up with.
I wanted a tote on wheels so I could have everything sealed up. I looked all over and Found the perfect tote at Lowe's. It is a Task Force brand Heavy Duty Tool Chest on wheels with a strong metal handle and latches. Also, I brought my Sinclair rest into the store to test fit and the reinforcement ridges in the tote fit a Sinclair rest with F class feet perfectly! It comes with a removable tray with one side that has a lid. The tray can also be set on the handle instead of the ground.
First thing I did was make two compartments in front of the rest to keep it from popping out of the ridges and also for storage. In one, I store rear bag risers and shooting mat stakes. In the other, I can put a notebook or what ever else I might need that is tall and skinny.
Then I made a false floor that came up right behind the rest feet to keep it from popping out backwards. I cut a notch into the floor so the rear bag can sit between the front compartments and under the rest. A hole was drilled for the rear foot on the rest to set into to also add more stability.
Then I made a removable compartment above the rest that can hold 1, 100 round and 1, 50 round ammo boxes.
My total cost was $60 for the tote and a tube of Liquid Nails. I had the plywood laying around and plenty of screws.
