Finally got some N133

Loaded some up last night and went to the range today.
.223 bolt gun
1-12 twist
52gr SMK's
Lapua brass
CC 450's ( I know .223 does not need mag primers but I have a boat load of them)

The gun even with my best loads was a .5 shooter sometimes a little less. I shot 5 strings working up a load and the worst was a .5
23.8 = .51
24.1 = .5
24.4 = .43
24.7 = 268
25 = .201

This stuff is like pixie dust in my factory Howa 24" HB. It was plain weird I didn't get a junk group even at lower charges.

Congratulations! You've discovered the powder which was so often used by the benchrest shooters in their 6PPC benchrest rifles.

Vihtavuori N133,
the choice of top benchrest shooters

Originally developed for 5.56 Nato cartridge, Vihtavuori’s N133 is a multipurpose rifle powder for centerfire .22 cartridges and PPC caliber cartridges.

N133 is a tubular powder with grain dimensions of 1,1 mm length and 0,8 mm diameter. The burn rate is medium in the scale of our rifle powders, and it works like a charm with .223 Remington, and practical shooters and other using the AR-15 will know the utmost quality of the N133. It is also a supreme choice for handloaders shooting 6 PPC standard rifle, and benchrest shooters all over the world rely on the combination of the Lapua .220 Russian brass and Vihtavuori N133 powder. This is probably the most popular powder in 100 meters and 200 meters bench rest shooting competitions: a countless number of competitions have been won using this reloading powder!

Now you should shoot more groups as confirmation of the consistency of your loads. One group is not necessarily that proof you will need.

Enjoy the process!

My Savage shoots .400 size groups at 100 with 53 Vmax and 23.3 N133 at 3160 FPS
N133 has been very forgiving and seems to do great no matter what I load for my 223
I get 3600-3700 out of 40g Vmax easy as pie
I have found that it is very brass dependent --I mean it seems sensitive to case fill volume--My recipe will shoot fantastic in one brass--swap brands ( with different internal volume) and the magic gets less impressive
So far the brass with smaller internal volume which nets me better case fill--seems to work crazy good --also I have seen no diff in primers using cci or federal plain jane
The stuff burns very clean also
N133 is my all time favorite 223 powder!

I've been reloading for my brother's 12 BVSS in .223 for some time now. The barrel twist measures out to 8.5" even though it is listed as a 9' twist. I had been mostly working with 69gr-77gr bullets and have very good luck so far. However, I have 1,000 of Hornady's 50gr Zombie bullets on the shelf that I wanted to use.

Although I tried several powders in the appropriate burn range, results weren't stellar. Someone here at AS told me to try N133 so I grabbed a couple of cans while they were available. Groups shrank with the very first trial load. Things only got better from there. That stuff is like magic in the .223.

My 12 BVSS loved 50gr Vmax (same as Zmax) bullets. I'd have to dig through my archives to fine the range logbook in order to quote the recipe but I know for sure it wasn't any VV powder. I was early into my reloading journey and only tried mainstream (at the time) powders. I seem to recall it was 21.3gr H4198 at 2.21 COL. Made me look like i knew what I was doing at the shooting bench. I had really lackluster results with the heavier (at the time) bullets like the 68's and 69's over H4895 however.
