Finally got my mount back of my biggest buck

[Shooting in the wind...]

Last year I was fortunate enough to see this guy while archery hunting and managed to call him in from a long way off. Unfortunately, he came so close that I only had a small window to shoot through and he seen me before I could get a shot off. He was so close I could count the eye lashes on his eye lid. Lucky for me I got another chance at him on the first day of rifle season. He is a 9 or 10 point depending on how measure points. Scored 140.5 gross and had a 23” neck. He was taken in SW Pa, his brows are longer than they appear, there just swept back. He has 2 kicker coming off his back times. One is 4” long and the other is 1”. Taxidermist aged him at 5 1/2 years old. What do you think?

I think it was 675.00 I don’t know exactly though. I threw the receipt away.

Yea I was definitely blessed with this one, I have shot a few others that weren’t as big but they were always busted up or not what I was looking for to mount. It only took me 20 years of hard hunting to finally get one like this.

You are to be commended for the hard hunting. A trophy well earned. Some prefer to take the EZ way. No offense to those. To each his own.

And quick work by the taxidermist. I shot a nice buck day after Thanks Giving in 2019, and got him back in April '21.

Yea I’m just glade i finally got one to put on the wall. I’m getting to the age where I’d rather take people hunting and watch them get’em. My fiance got her first deer ever in rifle season last year, shot a big doe at 250 yards. Made a perfect shot and she didn’t run more than 40 yards. My 2 boys will be hunting before I know it and I’m sure there are many memories awaiting me in the future ahead in the field.
