Finally finished my Ohio wall art. (Ammo related)

image.jpeg Some might have seen that me and my son have been just goofing around creating wall art (if you consider it that).
We shoot every weekend and when we see pristine discarded ammo boxes in the trash we have been saving them.
The range officers thought we where funny or possibly nuts (good guys we know).
We originally just had enough to make a square but, after a few months we finally had enough to make are square into the state of Ohio as planned.
Its in the man cave downstairs and goes well with are rifle/ammo hobby.
I think its pretty cool and it cost zero to make.

I will say I no longer have to go too the mall and look at new shower curtains or dishes. Nor ever weigh in on what color bath towels I prefer.
I also dont ever say "are you ready yet" anymore. lol
A word from the movie "Braveheart" comes to mind. FREEDOM ;)
My son (21) is still with me.

I'm sure there's more but well said! I've missed my days of being a bachelor for a long time now. I was taken in captivity way too late. Lol

I have been single since 2001... I can not describe how GREAT it has been after 25 yrs of marriage! I could not get married now if my life depended on it! F-R-E-E-D-O-M does ring LOUD! I love it!

Been married 48 years. The BEST freedom comes from having a wife who supports your goals 100%. Those ladies are hard to find.
You are absolutely correct and you are absolutely a very fortunate man! I like that! They are as rare as hens teeth. I like doing informal, one on one "polls" of a sort. Once I get to know someone well enough to really talk about things and you respect their opinion, I will ask this question: "Including yourself, how many people do you know well enough to know how many of them are so happily married that should they become single, thru some event, would they want to get married again to the point to seek out a marriage partner"? The answers I get are sad. I believe I have met less than 5 people who would or know people well enough to know that are so happy in their marriage they would seek out another partner. Most say "I know I would never get married again>>>or at least not for quite some time". That is a sad state of affairs. So, you should count yourself extremely fortunate and my hat is off to you and especially to your wife!

image.jpeg Thanks Nate, as mentioned I first made a square out of the boxes. I figured I would need a solid kind of structure to start with so, I used a flat piece of cardboard for a backing. Once I had saved up enough boxes I simply attached them. The additional boxes do not have cardboard backing. They dont need it. They are all attached using a hot glue gun. I might add the lid/side flaps where all glued tight for box strength prior to glueing together.
I laid it all out on my basement floor for assembly.
Its quite large now and I am guessing it took roughly 100 boxes to complete. Its about 4 1/2 feet square in its current state.
At the top is a picture prior to making it into the Ohio state shape.
Thanks to you and everyone else for the kind words.

My wife made me shoot a blackbuck with her father's old rifle, and mount it on the wall in our house. 43 yrs. Can you do one of these like Texas? Oh, wait, forget it - I don't have a wall big enough for it. Anyway, Ohio is a beautiful state, and I think the "hole in the horn" buck came from there, right? Certainly there are some awesome bucks that have been shot there!

Rumor has it that the waiting period in California (mandatory 10 days, whether rifle, shotgun, or pistol) is going to be expanded in scope to include hot glue guns and nail guns. ;)

We fled California in 2015, having lived there since birth, and getting out while the gettin' is good, i.e. before they build a wall to keep taxpayers IN.

*Shortly before our escape, I was visiting Home Depot and Lowes 4-5x per week, getting the house ready to sell. While standing in line behind a guy purchasing a pneumatic nailer, I asked the cashier if it was true what I had heard about the waiting period now applying to nail guns. The customer buying the nailer turned with his mouth and eyes wide open, and said "You're SHITTIN' me?!!" To which I said, yep, I am.
