Filter for Kowa TSN-82SV

What is the filter size for a Kowa TSN-82SV?

Thanks!

Bonus question, the filter is to protect the lens, would a particular type of filter, UV, Skylight, etc. be useful? SW Ohio tends to be cloudy/overcast a lot compared to Arizona and Nevada.

Steve, I got a filter for my Kowa 773 the other day from B&H Photo, give them a call, their customer support is really helpful and they have great prices too.

Hopefully @Turbulent Turtle will chime in.

Thank you @quest450

I have B&W filters for my Nikon. Their XS-Pro MRC Nano series is great.

What I need to know is the correct size so I can order a filter while I am waiting for the spotting scope to arrive.

Check the specs on the objective lens but I believe "82SV" alludes to the 82mm lens size. I bought a lens from Creedmoor when they had their special sale and it was a UV lens but a polarizing lens might also be useful.

The normal choice for sacrificial camera filters is UV-A. It is a UV-blocking filter but not much of one. You can usually not even see the difference with the naked eye (helps with some film).

Agree, you need a size in mm. If you have a camera store and it's not an issue to remove the scope, just bring it there and they will eyeball it, try one, sell you one. More expensive than online but then you know, if you cannot find out otherwise.
