Fierce Fury vs Christensen Ridgeline

Hello All:

I am considering a new hunting rifle for next season. I want something that is extremely reliable and accurate, and considering something more than just a standard "off the shelf" from the big names. I keep coming across these two names as potential options in that price range that would get me a semi-custom build but as a completely new rifle.

Anyone currently own either of these rifles?

The Christensen has a 6.5x284 option, where the Fierce is a 6.5 creedmoor. Those are the only two calibers I am considering. My preference is for the 6.5x284, but clearly there isn't enough difference between those two calibers to be the deciding factor.

Anyone own either rifle and care to give a quick review? Short answer: would you buy again?

Thanks in advance!

I have handled a lot of Christensen rifles. For the price, you could have a custom rifle built exactly to your specs. That would be my advise.

I would agree with Alex, for the value you can step in to a full custom and get all your desired specs and benefits to fit your needs.

Thanks for the feedback so far.

I drove about an hour to cabelas today because they showed both in stock.

Side by side, handling both - I actually preferred the Fierce. I have another Sako rifle that I really enjoy, and it reminded me very much of the Sako.

As far as custom... what would you recommend in that $2,000 range? Most of the options I've seen at at least double or more.

Thanks again for the help so far!

You guys are pushing the OP's price up x2 with customs like Borden. Perhaps a Cooper would be an alternative.

Awesome, I have $2000 cash. Will you build me a new custom rifle? I'm a lefty and one like the mesa will work fine for me. I'm not interested in the carbon wrapped barrels.
Thanks!

In 2016 we could have done it with a factory action.
Good answer! I'm almost afraid to ask what a new "mesa like" custom would cost today...probably quite a bit more than the $2k Christensen Arms is asking. I know that the custom rifle would be quite a bit more of a rifle too. Thanks for the reply Alex

I honestly would rather give you the business and have you build a high quality custom for me. I'm seriously interested in what a plain-jane bedded custom would cost, I know this is ambiguous, but...
Left-handed bolt 280AI or 6.5CM, single-shot would be fine, weight isn't a big factor, no muzzle brake, no fluting, cerakote finish, vertical-grip spiderweb stock, good trigger. Can something like this be built for $3k? $4k?
Thanks!
Steve
