Field Binoculars for Hunting

Does anyone have a suggestion for a decent pair of field binoculars? Model and brand? Does 8x42 magnification/objective sound right?

Thanks, Peter.

Planning to hunt woodchucks where the longest shots available would be about 200 yards. I will also use them for outings and wildlife watching with the scouts. I would say that my max would be $250.

Thanks, Peter.

Own a stabalized Canon, nice Leupold and now found super-nice for less. Steiner makes a variety of models in the $100 -$200 range. To me the optics and mechanical construction is pleasing.

The smaller Safari Models just might be handy, satisfying and perfect for your use.

Now shoot a big hog for me. Sure miss doing that since moving to Florida.

Steiner will make you more than happy with their 8x30 binoculars.. Between my 12x42 Pentax and the 10x42 Swarovski's, I seem to use the 8x30 Steiners a lot more for anything inside of 300 yards....
