FFP vs SFP

Why do some think SFP's don't have hash marks for things like windage? I use mine all the time for windage and elevation changes. Simple to just see the shot impact point, move the crosshair, note the hash marks and use those for the next shot.

If not at full magnification you have dope issues, ie, if you want to adjust 10" at 50% magnification you use half the hash value. Knobs still work the same.

Yep ^^^ 100% Guess they say we "don't know how to use a scope" if it's not FFP... Like anything else. Everyone thinks their way is the only way and everyone else is wrong ;)

Don’t change that power at all or that hold is off. Yea you can do as you say but you are locked in to one power once you start. And you can’t use your data unless it in the proper power where the reticle subtends correctly. FFP is just easier in those regards.

Partly correct. Data can be used with the knobs. Hash marks for hold off. But, yes, FFP is simpler if you are not using max magnification.

Guys there are too many fanboys here who have never used a sfp scope for more than 5 shots. They, just as some of us who use a sfp grew up using ffp scope. Then there are those of us who used the original ffp scope and couldn't wait for it to go away. We all know how to use the style scope and reticle we like and just leave it at that. This stupid argument is no different that the ford, chevy ,dodge dilemma! Besides the sfp users know who's right anyway!!!!! :D :D :D

Some of us have used a lot of both and know the difference. There are too many SFP fanboys who have never used a FFP scope to know the difference also.

I have Vortex Strike Eagle's on all of my 22LR's They are set up with 50 MOA between base and rings. I can zero at 50yds and dial to 500yds. I have one SFP scope left, It's on a 223. I dial for elev. and hold for wind. The 0.2 Mils marks for wind are great for holding. You fire and see your miss then hold for next shot. You will be fine with a FFP scope.

You mean people like Ford and Chevy? I just assumed they were forced to buy them because all the Dodges were sold out ;)
I was 'forced' to buy a Ford when my Dodge broke. :) Would have bought another Toyota but they didn't have a 3/4ton. Never had decent luck with Ford, Chevy or Dodge.

I used 6.5-20x50 Leupold on my 22-250 and 223 with std x-hairs, just a 3.5-10x50 Leupold on a Valmet 22 with a dot reticle and target elevation knob, for gophers for many yrs. Decided I'd like to try the mil or moa xmas tree reticles for plinking gophers, grabbed an FFP 4.5-20x50 for the .22, it is an improvement over the old std x-hairs in my old SFP scopes. Has .2 mil windage and vertical marks, much more fun to use on the l'il fellers, easier corrections for sure.
