FFP or SFP Scope for FTR class 600 & 1000 yds matches?

I am putting together a FTR rifle with savage action and bartlein barrel, along with a Bell & Carlson stock, but having trouble deciding on which type of scope to use, between FFP or SFP, please give me our experience.

Thanks in advance.

NF only offers the 15-55 Competition in SFP
Vortex only offers the Golden Eagle in SFP
Sightron only offers their 10-50x in SFP
March FFP maxes out at 40x, which would be enough, but all of their other high magnification scopes are SFP.

I did use a Bushnell 6-24x50 FFP for almost 2 years. It was tolerable, but the FFP didn't provide any benefit. The scope stayed on 24x 100% of the time. The higher magnification of my next scopes a NF Benchrest, and now Competition are much better.

With known distance ranges there is no advantage to a FFP scope. MOA, with 1/8 minute adjustment is very popular.

FFP is for unknown-distance games so that the mil dots, MOA hashes, or whatever, hold constant across the magnification spread. I.e., With FFP, a mil is a mil at 10 or at 40 power.

With SFP, the dots, hashes, or whatever only have their value at a certain magnification. E.g., the MOA hashes in my NF Competition are only an MOA at 40 power.

For how I use the hashes, it doesn't matter that they are 40/55s of an MOA. I see that the bullet impacted at a certain hash and, next shot, I aim with that hash. Simple, no?

While most use SFP for F-class, there is nothing wrong with using FFP. March, in particular, has reticles that work very well at maximum magnification. My son and I use the 3-24x42FFP with a 1/4MOA dot for F-TR. My wife and youngest son use the 5-40x56FFP with 1/8 MOA dot for F-Open. Both models work great: personal preference on how bold you want the reticle to be. I prefer bold (& low magnification) because you can still see it clearly when the mirage gets crazy.

I have used the FFP reticle to make sighting corrections for really errant shots....like when you go from one side of the target to the other during a mild Raton wind change. :)
