FFP o4r SFP ?

2nd. That is actually a close range. FFP is better at target hold-over way out.

There are those who would say that FFP's problem for long range is that the cross-hair can actually obscure the target at long ranges. So your selection of reticle will probably need to be thought over if you plan to use it at long range and maximum magnification.

100 to 300 yards is fine for either - but it depends on your shooting discipline.

The advantage that FFP gives is that the subtensions would be constant regardless of the magnification - so hold-over becomes really easy, and if you have something of known height/dimension, you can actually use the FFP scope to calculate distance to the target. If you are just shooting casually (even long range), or for hunting purposes, SFP is more than adequate.

First focal really only makes sense if you're going to use your reticle hash marks for hold-offs or for distance ranging. Outside of that, all it does is add expense and a lot of it.
