FFP MOA varmint scopes

@ Hotshot,.. Agree with, this ^^ ^ and I will look Hard at them, for my 6 XC along with, the Arken EP-5's, Tract's, and Vortex upper End, stuff,.. in 30 or 34 MM tubes.
Surprisingly, the Burris, 6 x 20x, E-1's are amazingly Clear and work very well at, the Lower End, Prices.
SFP for consistent, Cross Hair Size and, MOA for this, Old Guy !

I have an Athlon Argos BTR, Ares BTR (Gen 1), and Ares ETR and like them all relative to their price points. The Argos is as low as I would go in regards to cost. The reticle is thick enough that at 400 yds it covers most of the pd. I've shot them out to 700 with both Ares with no problems. I suspect a Midas would also be excellent.

I like MOA because my brain thinks in inches per hundred yards. I also like that 1/4 moa is a smaller adjustment than .1 mil, but realistically that's not all that important when using the reticle for holdover. I also don't use my reticle to range things. I range things by eye and then use the reticle for corrections.
I'll be looking at, one of these Also ( the Ares, BTR ). Glass "Clarity" at Distance, is, very Important, to my Old Eyes !
Hows the clarity ??? Does the center Dot show up "well" at most, of the higher Powers ?
Saw them at, $800.00 any better Deals,.. out there ?

Euro optic has the best deals I’ve seen on Athlon, they also have some deals on demos/open box scopes but no Ares models. Check Cameralandny.com, they have good prices and open box/ demos as well.

The Verocity is a Burris, not a Bushnell, I have a couple and really like them.
The STAC Sightrons are good also.
Other than being a monster piece of glass I have no issue with the Arken, EP 5 5-25. I like them enough that I have five now.

Vortex PST 5-25x50 is pretty decent. Zero stop and elevation has 25moa per revolution so even if your winding it's hard to get lost.
IT's gonna be,.. HIGH up, on My list,. Thanks !
I recently got, a 6x-24x-50mm PST, in a gen 1 version, at under $400, for one of, my Rifles and,.. I really, LIKE, it !

I like the function but after using other high end scopes the glass in mine isn't up to the same standard. Probably good for the price point but not amazing.

If you can. Get your hands on a meopta for a look. They are doing some FFP scopes in their optica 6 range and their glass is amazing for the price. Dare I say in the same realm as swaro and kahales at 1/4 the price.

I have two Optika 5’s and really Ike them both. I just purchased a Zeiss 6.5-20 to hopefully replace a Leupold 6-20 VHR that I’m just not gelling with. I have narrowed my mil scope choices down to the Veracity and the Optika 6

The clarity is pretty good. I alternate with the ares and tract toric. I can for sure see a difference, but its not night and day. I had an arken and compared to the ares the difference was huge. I have the reticle with the center cross not the dot. I wish I would have got the dot. Based on the drawing and the reticle I have the dot should be fine. The center dot on the toric is tiny. For general prairie dogs it is maybe too small. However, the gun its on is for 400 to as far as I can spot em, so it is good for that.

My Ares BTR is a Gen 1. Those didn't offer an APLR4 or APLR5 reticle. It has the christmas tree reticle with the crosshair in the middle. If I remember correctly, it's reticle is an APLR2. If it's not an APLR2, it looks exactly like it. My Ares ETR has the APLR5 reticle with the dot in the middle. I suspect that its center dot is VERY VERY similar to the APLR4 available on the Ares BTR. With the ETR I have no issues seeing the dot at 30x, and I can't imagine having any problems seeing the dot on an APLR4 at 27x. My ETR is currently on a bolt action .223, and when we're walking and shooting off of tripods, I normally put it around 16x and have no problems seeing the dot at that magnification either. If I'm shooting at them much past 200 yds, I normally find the dog and hold on it while I max out the magnification, then apply the hold over and wind dope on the reticle then move the trigger rearward.

As far as glass quality, I'm pleased with the Ares BTR. It sits on my 24" 6.5 Grendel upper from Sanders Armory which turned out to be a tack driver. I've only taken it on one PD trip. As far as glass quality, I had no problems stretching that rifle and optic out to 700 yds. I've not had it and the ETR sitting side by side on the prairie to compare them, but I have a hard time saying that there's a big enough difference in the image to justify buying another one over the BTR version. If I were constantly trying to use the reticle to range targets out to 1,000 yds, I might feel differently about it, but for whacking sage rats, I have a hard time justifying the cost of something nicer than the Ares BTR, especially if the overwhelming bulk of your shooting is under 600 yds or so.

I'm currently interested in the Midas TAC, but I have some questions about how it's reticle compares to the Ares and Argos BTR optics. I won't be buying the Midas until I can get more information.
