FFL Transfer process

I had 2 used rifles in CA and wanna sell them to Exporter Dealer.

So, how to ship them to Export Dealer which located in other states? Do I need to fill any paper work?

Can I ship them directly to Export Dealer or I have to ask local FFL for shipping service?

Export dealer must send you a copy of his valid "dealers" FFL.

You can then send them via the post office, to export dealer - include a copy of Export Dealers FFL in the box, and bring a copy to the post office to show the mailman in case they want proof - you will need to include a copy of your drivers license in the box, or mail it to the Export Dealer.

Export Dealer "may" insist that you send the rifles from a local FFL dealer at your end, that is entirely up too Export Dealer.

That is a little "overkill" but will cover all bases.

An individual shipping his firearms "Does Not" need a copy of the FFL, and the ATF actually frowns on these copys of the FFL floating around. What you do need is the number of the FFL license and then a way to verify it as an actually and current FFL license. The ATF has a web-site for this purpose. Go to this site type in the required number and it will tell you if the FFL is current or not.

Not sure about specific Republic of Kalifornica requirements, but agree 100% that the post office doesn't need to know what's in the package.

While the container or size/shape/weight of the box may be somewhat descriptive of contents, I try not to put "gunshop, gunstore, sportings goods" on the address, just "Dave's" not Dave's gun and Pawn, or the dealer's name and address, not the business. I'd recommend insuring for full value-somewhat spendy but better than losing them or their value!
