FFL Question

If I send my action to my gunsmith to have a barrel chambered for it, do I need to send it to an FFL (if he is not) and then have my smith send it back to my FFL? Or, can I send it to him, he do the work, then him send it back to me without any FFLs?

Thanks.

A licensed gunsmith should be able to accept transfers (for repair) legally

A gunsmith needs to have an FFL, check the regs
If you doubt Gundoktr, call your closest ATF office and ask. Another consideration,,,,, if your 'gunsmith' isn't a FFL holder he has NO liability insurance. Those who insure gunsmiths want a copy of their FFL.

I will echo what everyone else is saying. If he is a gunsmith, then he has to have an FFL. If he dosent hold an FFL, I dont think I would be sending him any work.

I was always under the impression that a gunsmith had to have an FFL if he was going to keep your action over night......Meaning anything longer that a day.

Since most smiths are backed up, to me that means YES he needs to have a FFL....

Phil.
