Maybe it is all me, but I have tried those many times and never saw anything dramatic happening. I mostly just felt like it did little more than burnishing.

I used to have a machining instrucor that when presented with a mistake that he or I or someone else did, he would always remark "that's where the chamfer was going to be turned" lol

I always sand off the sharp ends.

I keep a couple thread files.

Even a small triangle file and a bit of patience will fix it!! Not really that bad. Once it gets screwed into the action, no one will ever know, but you.
