Fedex and firearm theft

Sheriff’s department notified me several weeks ago that my L46 rifle was found in the woods in another Virginia county and they have it, although rusty. They are running checks to see if was used in a crime and if not maybe I can get it back. Said barrel inside didn’t look bad. Will see and maybe I can salvage something as of now been a total loss of collector grade early Sako. As last year.222 ammo was not easy to get so don’t think a gang banger would use this to shoot up something.

That is a sad sad story. At least now you know what happened to it. Curious what it looks like also. Could you post pictures if you get it back ?

Green Mountain shows $32 to ship a $52 unprofiled, unchambered blank via USPS ground.

Hard pass from me. Gotta be a better way.

Especially if it never arrives.

Got my L46 back from Stafford County sheriff department after it was recovered in the woods from last year as was stolen in August. It was still in the black sock I used for shipping. Pix are how it is now and a couple from how it was when I shipped. Rusty but bore is still good with only a few small rust spots. Probably sell as is as don’t want to mess with it.

I would not stop with that answer from Fedex. Ask for someone higher up to show you where it says that. And if that is true, why did they accept the shipment and insure it. Extremely valid point in that FedEx except to the insurance money but won't honor to claim. That's smacks a fraud. Blatant fraud.

If this is the official policy of FedEx, then they know they're perpetrating this with intent to never honor insurance claim because their own employees cannot be trusted. This is nothing more than FedEx trying to cover up its criminal employees.

By FedEx excepting the insurance payment upfront with no intent to honor the claim is nothing more than fraud. Blatant fraud.

That's kind of weird. The second paragraph in my post should be the first paragraph read. Apparently my cell phone or this websites software decided to do its own editing. Weird.

Made a .223Rem out of it, threaded barrel 1/2-28 and off to my Cerakote specialist. Will strip and re-finish stock. Due to corrosion, but not too bad, will make a good shooter as bore is still good with only a few tiny spots. Will strip and re-finish the stock. At least it is back to me and will have new life with my son..

Small claims court was made for these situations. You don't need a lawyer and can file a standard complaint form usually available from the court. FedEx, on the other hand, would need to use a lawyer as they are a corporation. Consequently, such companies usually elect to settle out of court. Your only expense is the filing fee which is usually less than $50.

Think I would file a small claims suit in your local court, since the FedEx accepted and you have reciept/s of such. Bet you can win your case and the local office will be ordered to pay up.

fire arm just gets lost at FedEx and they just blow it off? find it hard to believe that the ATF is not down there talking to them. did you call the FEDS?

The ugly duckling metal work is completed. Bead blast and Cerakote. Barrel removed and rechambered to .223 and front end threaded 1/2-28. Also did tuning and polishing for magazine to feed properly with certain bullet weights. Trigger also tuned to remove most of the creep. My son will have to do stock restoration, as I have done enough. Straight tube scope to clear factory middle sight as this is the European Sporter and no USA import. Made a few pieces and adaptations here and there, but seems to function better than original.

So does FedEx just get to wipe their hands of any involvement and walk away?

Serious question. If that's how it works I'd like to know. Sorry if it was answered earlier and I missed it.

guess so as at my age I am not ready for the legal hassle. Throwing good money after bad. I just ship through my local dealer and only pay actual charges. No FedEx though after many years.

WoW. I don't blame you and I get your reasoning.

Nothing shipped that I can't tolerate being irretrievably lost for me anymore.

Firearms stolen when being shipped thru Fed Ex?
And no compensation??
Sounds like a CLASS ACTION suit would get RESULTS!! ;);)
