Federal NT .45 ACP cases

I was going through my .45 ACP cases and while decapping them have found a few that were very hard to decap. I noticed that the ones that were hard were all Federal NT cases and they look as if they have crimped primers. Now I've only found about 4 of these in the last 1500 cases so its not a horrible loss if I just toss them. I do have a Dillon Swage that I could use on them but is it worth it?

Federal makes excellent cases If you've got the time, rescue them. In a siege, 4 cases might make the difference. ;D

Check the primer pockets, are they small primer instead of large primer? I think the Federal NT cases use a small primer in addition to having a crimped primer.

i do keep all or most of the small primer pocket 45 acp brass i get..WITH THE EXCEPTION OF WIN NT..it all gets scraped.

small primers after 100 yrs of large was a joke, but then we have to deal with crimped small primers...never

just plain trash imho..

there are now at least SEVEN companies that MARKET small primer 45acp

They are small primer pockets, I just separate them from the large and load each size all at one time so I don't have to worry about what primer to use.

I think I'll just toss the NT stuff since I only have a few of them.
