Federal Gold Medal 338 Lapua (with Lapua headstamp)

I purchased some Federal Gold Medal 338 Lapua from an internet vendor and one of the boxes has Lapua headstamps on the brass. Anyone run into that? Forgive me if this has been addressed previously. Cartridges seem correct although I haven't pulled a bullet. Primer sealant is quite Federal looking in it's application.

Federal factory box with Lapua head-stamped brass as opposed to Federal FC stamped. The question from the OP is whether or not they are factory ammo. (and someone who knows more than I about 338L ammo will have to answer)

I have not seen FGMM in .338 Lapua with Lapua brass...only FC brass.

If I was you just contact Federal with the number on the box and get the big mystery over... I don't think those are virgin loads...But what do I Know...Remember to shoot in the center all the time

I'll give Federal a call tomorrow and see if they can shed some light.

Federal said the lot was first year production 2012 and it isn't inconceivable it was Lapua brass during that run. They will source brass if they aren't manufacturing it. Interesting.

Thanks for the update... It makes sense to first test the market demand before spending the cash to tool up.

A box of the FGMM 338LM sure ain't cheap.

I think they must load a bunch of it in the same factory. I get the once fired test brass and came get either FC or lapua brass from the same place.
