Federal Ammunition rips Minnesota DNR for lead ammo ban

"The top executive of Anoka-based Federal Ammunition said Friday that Minnesota is attacking one of America’s most successful conservation programs by banning the use of lead ammo, beginning this fall, in 56 Scientific and Natural Areas (SNAs) open to hunters."

SO what the stupid bastards in MN will vote straight DEMOCRAT anyway and the union workers at Federal in Anoka will lead the way!!!!!!
Our workforce at Federal is not unionized 280ai.
Sadly, this state historically goes blue, but that is due to the politics being driven out of the twin cities, Duluth, and to a lesser extent the iron range. Most of Minnesota is populated by conservative outdoor sports loving Americans, probably similar to your neck of the WI woods.

Whole damn country will be lead free hunting before ya know it followed by lead free target shooting. For big game it is not the end of the world. For varmint and bird hunters they are so much more expensive, you shoot em by the thousands, and the performance is a big step down. I literally left CA due to the lead ammo ban. That was the final straw.

I agree.....Minnesota is controlled by the Cities (Metro area), Duluth, and Rochester (Med City). If it wasn't for the Rochester push Minnesota would have a state wide rifle season for deer this year. And the Mn DNR is behind the state wide rifle season...They WANT IT.

Waterfowl have gizzards. The shot gets the lead oxide ground off that was pertecting the lead from harming anything. That was the reason. It sounds good but not as harmful as you think.

Junk science or not, it is not going to be long before the feds outlaw leaded ammunition for hunting. It is coming, hopefully we can continue to use leaded ammo for target shooting/plinking.

I would like to see the scientific studies and who paid for them that she references in her decision.
My girlfriend is a well respected consultant and was asked to be on the review board for a study. She found multiple issues with the contractor misrepresenting the data, along with claims which were unsupported by data. The other reviewers on the board missed the discrepancies. She was a bit wound up about the lack of critical review.......

My education includes degrees in Biology and Environmental Science, what I had contributed on this subject was the result of papers I submitted for reviews. Professors, told me while my theory and data was correct on the initial waterfowl poisonings( on which the lead shot ban for migratory was based). The ban would never be reversed because of political reasons.

They have protected waterfowl in Oklahoma. Now we have geese crapping all over everything. All the golf courses are covered in goose poop.

People call them rats with wings.

The coyote, hawk, and eagle population love eating them. So now we have those populations explodinh in town.

Just wait until the little doggies start disappearing. Then the yankee carpetbaggers will want mass extermination of the water fowl.

Because they are dumb.

We used to have a special goose season here. About 2 weeks before it opened the DNR was trucking in about 100K geese from Ohio, Indiana. They banded each one and released them. What was funny was about 1/2 of the geese that were shot were shot back where the geese came from. But man was that fun because the geese did not know where the refuges were at and they were easy pickings for a couple of weeks. I have over 50 bands from them. Even got one double band that paid a $100 reward to turn in.
