Favourite Load for 6.5x47L

There's lots of interest in this cartridge so lets not be restricted to one powder or projectile.

My fave load is 41.8grs of AR2209,H4350) with a 30.5" barrel for a velocity of 2920fps with 130 gr Berger Vlds. A friend shoots 38grs RL15 for the same velocity with same projectile with a 28" barrel. These are accurate loads and with my gun this places the muzzle velocity right on the 4th node for OBT.

After one year of playing with this cartridge:

123 grain lapua mollied-38.5 Varget.

130 grain Berger mollied VLD-41.5 H4350

No chrony but excellent groups at 300 meters and 600 yards.
Both shoot better than me at Camp Butner NC at 1000 yards.
Will try the 139 grain scenars this June.

One bad lot of Lapua cases. 50 case heads/rims too large or out of round to chamber.

Good info, I wonder if Lapua had teething problems with thier first brass lots? The brass seems pretty good now!

I would be very interested to hear how you get on with the 139gr Scenars. I want to try them with RL17 but will have to wait till the end of 2009 for the powder to be available in Oz.

with a 30.5" bbl i would be running the 140berger vld for the added BC

i'm getting 2920 in a 26" with 130's and H4350 and it rocks!

My go to load.

123 Scenar with 20thou jump to lands.
Loaded with RL-15 to 3020fps,38.5gn for me - CAUTION! hot load)

The 123s shoot good from 2950fps thru about 3025fps

Good luck with 130 Bergers loaded with RL-15 to 2900,37.5gn for me)

Just starting work with RL-17 and hBN coated 123's and 130's
