Favorite style deer feeder??

raw corn could kill a deer. they can't digest corn quickly so it can lead to a build up of lactic acids hence acidosis in the rumen.also entreotoxemia.

I haven't seen any dead deer anywhere but daily, I see dozens eating raw corn in the thousands of acres of cornfields near me.All winter they pick the remnants in the fields ,i've yet to see any dead deer or deer remains. Must be the same study that said coyotes ONLY eat insects, primarily grasshoppers and berries.

not sure about that. we know coyotes are carnivores. heck one of my neighbors even had his cat stalked and killed by a pack. studies can be flawed though.

Well if there are cornfields in their homerange, then it is part of their regular diet. Placing corn in the big woods- miles from farmland- in late winter when there is little else to consume is the problem. Perhaps you should READ the articles presented.

Jimminey, this thread is all over the place. The recleaned shelled corn I purchase has protein, not less than 8%,
Fat, not less than 3%, Fiber, not less than 3%. Deer will lose weight eating corn because of the low fat content.
Protein pellets bought for open feeders (on demand) have between 25-28% protein which promotes antler growth and a very healthy fawn crop. Deer will eat only as much protein or corn as they want. I've seen them
browse a bit then leave. That's how on demand feeders work. Also, that extra protein encourages deer to look for other browse, including a bit of grass, a bit of twigs, a bit of weeds and a bit of anything else they may find interesting. In places like Hollywood Park, Texas the locals that feed the deer are indeed harming them, much to their dismay. RcSCorn is NOT deer food. That is why the deer eat all their shrubs, roses, trees and anything else they can find for real nutrition.
Some of this content based on fact, part on observation, part on opinion. Respectfully Submitted,
Riesel

That was an independent study , little merit to it.

Back to the OP original topic. I like the spinner type feeders because animals hear as the dinner bell.

I read this to say, little merit to it because you do not like the information.

What is an "independent study" anyway? Is there a "dependent" study group you trust more? Your less than scientific study of "I see dozens eating raw corn" does not deserve merit either.

Just admit that you have an opinion and leave it at that.

WOW so many experts on what deer eat and corn is bad lol tell that to them that are killed in a corn field........What I was asking is what everyone favorite feeder style was but I bought a tectonic deadfall thanks to those you actually answered the question. I will feed deer on my place corn all I want.

Where I live, people feed corn to shoot deer. It's a way of life. But it has eliminated the type of guy who can scout an area and pick a spot for a good shot. I.e. really hunt an area.

One thing I have seen occur where deer were liberally fed corn is inbreeding. The inbreeding resulted in a number of deer with curious gaits and they didn't look particularly healthy. The solution was to gun as many down as possible and stop feeding them.

I put out one or two coffee cans of corn every 2-3 days. Not enough to make them lazy, but enough to incorporate the spots into their normal browsing pattern. I also have mineral stones in place year round where I throw the corn out.

I’ve seen deer eat just about anything. A new one on me about 8-9 years ago was cotton bolls.
