Favorite Reloading Press

Just wondering what press everyone like to load on or thinks is the best.

I Have a RCBS single stage loader thats ok
Just got a Dillion Precisoin 550B a few months back and man its a hole new world I love it.

I like my Forster Co-Ax and my Hornady Progressive press. Rifle on the Co-Ax and pistol/bulk rifle on the Hornady. Both good presses in my opinion. ;D

I agree with STUBBY regarding the COAX press. You would have to spend a lot more money on a Corbin press to beat it. For my DASHER loading I use a HARRELL's turrent press with my dies mounted and anchored to 'stay'. When it comes to cleaning (before each use) I simply spray the cleaner up the dies and use a Q-Tip to clean them.

+ another 1 on the Forster Coax. Once you get past the initial bite you'll wonder why you didn't do it earlier. It's a fantastic press.

I also have a Lee Breech Lock single stage. It's a decent budget press, great for beginners. I wanted something more.

For my pistol rounds I've got the Lee Turret. It's also a a decent press, but I kind of have the hankering for a progressive. One day...

Bonanza Co-Ax and Dillon RL-450. The Co-Ax is still the best single-stage choice but the newer RL-550B is a much better progressive machine.

For pistol I use a Hornady, but for rifle I just got a Redding Big Boss II. It is better than the RCBS I was using before. I didn't get the Co-Ax mainly because of cost, and now I wish I just did it, but I am very happy with the Redding.

The Co-ax Is the one, just go for it, you wont be sorry. It will be the best spent "little extra money" investment you can make on reloading tools, and get the short handle, its about all I use. And this will be the last press you will buy.

The Co-Ax is a very nice press, but do any of you use die shims with it. I've gotten to using shims a lot for precise shoulder bumping, but haven't tried it with a Co-Ax. You would have to do it upside down compared to a regular press. Anybody tried this?
Also, if you want a really nice press for the short & medium length cartridges, you should look at Sinclair's press.

Forester Co/Ax rules. I use it for all resizing and for my 6mm Rem seating with Redding Micro Seater. Use the 550B to drop powder and seat with Redding Micro Seater.

I get very min runout and very accurate varmint cartridges.

I just started reloading a month ago, my Forster gives me half the run-out that the RCBS does, THANKS forum members for the great info you post here, made my start-up a breeze!!!!!

Had a few different presses over the years and the Forster Co-Ax is the best I've worked with.

I'll stick with my RCBS Rockchucker. Single stage lets me inspect each piece of brass more than one time. Same as priming.
Seen too many rounds that didn't get a powder charge on a progerssive press. No fun trying to get a stuck bullet out of a barrel.
No matter what press you use, get a routine and stick to it.

Since I do virtually all of my loading at the range, my Harrell Combo press is my favorite. It has built in provision for seating bullets with an arbor press type die as well as the usual threaded sizer, has plenty of leverage, and a massive built in clamp, that makes the press as secure as if it was bolted down.

Personally, I like my RCBS A-2 press. Massive with plenty of leverage for the most demanding task. I can even adjust the priming depth with it. Some people complain that because it had been discontinued some time ago (late sixties I believe) that you cannot get spare parts for it. Wrong! Parts become available from RCBS and Huntington's as well.

I've been reloading for 50 years. My true love is my RCBS RockChucker - it has beenw ith me throuh Junior High, High School, College, the Army, one divorce, and is still with me.

BUT, my best quality ammo comes form my Forster Co-Ax and this is what I use for all my rifle match ammo.

For pistol, I do not think there is a better press than a Dillon 550B. I was using it to load my ammo when I finished 5th overall in the nation in the IDPA Nationals in 1999.

What makes the Forster Co-Ax so great. I have never seen or used one. I am shocked at all the replys for this press. They must be great.

The Co-Ax is a powerful press whose die mounting and shell holding allow the dies and cases to self-align when sizing and seating. Mine is old and well-used but still produces ammunition with <.002 TIR.
