Favorite FFP scope

I'm looking at changing my hunting rifle scope from the NF SHV 4-14x56 to a FFP scope. What are some favorite scopes that you guys are using on your hunting rigs? I would like to stay around the 4x on the lower end for closer ranges.

google is your friend. search lrhs vs nxs, lrhs vs nightforce, lrhs durability, lrhs reliability. There should be PLENTY of reading for you to make your own decision...

I think the Kahles 6-24 is one of the best for sure.

Shmidt and Bender 5-25 PMII are obviously one of the best but their warranty is garbage compared to others. And yea they can break. Anything mechanical can fail and tho it's not common for S&B PMII scopes to have any problems it has happened to some and it wasn't pocket change to get them fixed.
Hence why I mention their warranty is shit. Unless they changed it recently.

Vortex Razor II 4.5-27
Vortex AMG 6-24
Leupold MK8

I also like the Bushnell DMR and XRS. Good scopes for the money. lifetime no questions asked warranty no matter who bought it, it's covered for the life of the scope.

I've owned six of the Kahles K624i scopes with AMR reticle, and still have one of the Gen 2s & a couple of the Gen 3s. They are without doubt my favorite ffp scopes for PRS-type competition, but are a little on the large side for hunting IMHO. Same goes for any of the 34mm tube ffp scopes. But I've had a couple of the 30mm Bushnell LRHS 4.5-18x44 scopes (still have one on a M700 in 6XC), and think they've got very good glass, good hunting reticle, and track very well. The newest version is available with illuminated reticle, which might well be a good investment, as their 44mm objective may not be the best for low-light hunting - eg - early in the morning, late in the afternoon in shadows. They've also got a really simple to set zero stop. Will confess, I'm not really up on other ffp scopes that would be suitable for hunting, so take it for what it's worth - just another opinion.

Opinions are like ********..... We all got one, heres mine.

The Steiner military 5-25, and S&B 5-25 police and military.

My top 2. Never tried a kahles or seen one at that. Nighforce doesnt impress me. Looked through them, Steiner and S&B german glass is better. I went march on my target scope.

My favorite for hunting applications is a March. 3-24x42. The power range is incredible and it’s much smaller and lighter than most. It has a very usable reticle and the two I have track perfectly and return to zero every time.

If it was for shooting steel or target shooting I like the Steiner Military scopes and S&B if the budget allows. If the budget is a bit tighter it’s tough to be Sightron SIII. I also just bought a Bushnell DMR2, very compact scope with a great power range, the reticle is a little bit thicker than I like but it’s a really nice scope for the money. The NF NXS series is a good scope too, the are tough and repeatable but not as bright as the Steiner or S&B. I think clarity and such is overrated. You have to be able to see what your shooting at but a scope’s turrets need to be accurate and repeatable. POI needs to be consistent every time. If your scope wanders a little bit than it undermines your confidence and what your trying to do. I’ve had good luck with all of the scopes I mentioned.

Have you looked through or shot with an ATACR? I would put them on par if not above the two you mentioned.

Have you considered the SHV F1? For a hunting scope they're pretty nice. What are the list of important features in order of importance? That will help people steer you towards a better suggestion

I should have read the OP's post before my original reply. I just saw title and opened my yaphole.

For hunting FFP scope.... Bushnell LRHS would be my #1 choice. And don't let the objective size fool you. It's all in the focal length and glass. Objective diameter is not as important anymore.
Some Scope manufacturers use larger objectives and others use better glass. And other use both.

The Vortex Gen II is a very nice scope, but it is God-awful heavy. It is entirely too top heavy for anything in a sporter class range. There are much better options for something that might be carried much at all. I owned mine less than a month.
