Just curious what's everyones favorite cheap multi use bullets for .223 and .308 ( well 7.62x39 with a .308 barrel, .308 and .30/06 lol) ? When I say multi use I mean something this isn't the all out best at everything but it can shoot respectable groups ( 1"-1.5" and under @100yd ) take game if you know what your doing ect.
Needing something to kinda fill the role Tula and wolf used to fill .
Thanks !

I have shot thousands of 55 grain soft points from Midsouth and am very happy with the performance and price. Everything from prairie dogs to hogs and coyotes.

$17.50

$22 bucks

I have several match and varmint Hornady at 22 bucks. I think these are pretty good deals.

The FMJ Hornady 55 is $13, but I don't think they will shoot as tight as you want.

Mil spec pulled bullets if still available. Run thru my M1A, Mini 14 and AR by the 100s (+) with no issues. ;)

For 308 types, Speer 130 gr Varmint HP capable of .3" to .5" 5 shot groups in AR 10 auto loaders with LC brass. Speer 168 is also surprisingly good with autos. 5.56 Sierra 69 gr match and Nosler 40 BT, not cheap but accurate across a variety of twist rates...cheap and usually accurate are Speer Value Packs in 308 125 TNT and W748 and 5.56 TNT 50 gr or 55 gr are good...also you can work up a good load with cheap military "reject powder", with these bullets.

Here the load development target from the 55SMK pulls from American I posted above with N133 out of my 20" WOA Bartlein 4G AR15 @ 100yd. Very accurate and a hell of a deal for $125 per 1000pc shipped

Try RMR Bullets most reviewers have been getting 1 MOA or better, not match grade but at about half price of SMKs and available. I have a 1,000 75 grains that I will be testing shortly.

Hush! keep these a secret! ;)

We're running the 75s now too. But we've shot about 4 thousand of the 69s. They work great even out to 1000 yards in 16-20" barrels.

Check out the Midsouth Shooters Varmint nightmare and Midways Dogtown bullet. Simple cup and core bullet made by Nosler. They shoot very well and do a good job on various critters. They will surprise you on how well they shoot for a less expensive bullet on todays market.

I can second the accuracy of the Midsouth Varmint Nightmare 55 grain SP bullets. I recently shot 8 5-shot groups between .30 and .50 at 100 yards. My only concern is that I saw that they are now boat tailed rather than flat based design. Hopefully, that does not change their accuracy 2which has been phenomenal for an inexpensive hunting bullet!

I had great results with the Midway Dogtown 55 gr. in 223 Rem. I will be happy when they start stocking them again.
Right now I am shooting some of the Midway blemish 150 gr. FMJ for cheap plinking.

I shot alot of the RMR 69gr. They make them and price includes shipping which is a big deal for us up north. Once in a while he has 308s that he gets from somewhere. They've been ok but not great
