Favorite bullet comparator/shoulder bump

I use each for different calibers. Whiddens is an actual measurement and Larrys is a relative before and after sizing measurement

I changed from the Hornady setup over to Brownells. I liked the steel inserts for both shoulder bump and ogee.

If the Area 419 had been available then I would have passed on some drinks and a few steak dinners...... "One Ring to Rule Them All" really should be their motto.

I have fellow shooters that have there smiths make a head space gauge using the reamer used to chamber the barrel. They say it’s the only way to go. I would like to try the idea and see if it’s any more effective.

Is no one using the creedmoor sports comparators? I have the bullet comparator only. I want the shoulder one next.
Here's cortinas thoughts on creedmoor sports comparators, lol. I'm a nobody in the shooting world, but I feel what he says makes sense, but at the same time what does it matter? The measurement is relative to whatever gauge you use i'd imagine. That Creedmoor sports one is defiantly the most convenient. I also like supporting that site whenever I can. Super nice people.

EDIT: my apologies he is talking about the sinclair nut. Not creedmoors!

A shoulder comparator is a super simple tool that you dont have to spend a lot of money on. So long as the comparator is touching in the middle of the shoulder and not too close to the neck or body then it will work. I use a Sinclair and leave one insert in for pretty much all cases. The angles dont even have to match up, it doesnt matter. This is not an area that spending more will get any better results. Their bullet comparators work well too.

doesnt anyone use a neck bushing in the hornady body? That way you can sellect where the measurement is taken from using a bushing that suits your bullet or shoulder.
