Always wanted one, what bullets are you using and velocity are you getting?

I had a 700 Sendero SF in 300 RUM when the RUMs were the hot new thing, and I was new to target shooting; that thing was absolutely brutal to shoot from a bench. Gave me a flinch that took 2-3 years to shake.

I'd like to get one again, but assuming it's built in a "man portable" config, that thing will have a muzzle brake on it.

I bet it'd be fun with some 230 Bergers.

Edit: Brass still hard to find?

I'm still making do with an old Mauser 98 switch barrel rifle. 300 and 375 H&H flavors. The RUM case is best used, imho, to make 404 Jefferys and 458 RUM brass.

My son hunts elk with his Rem 721 in 300 H&H. Lord knows how many rounds down the tube, but we can get it to shoot 180 partitions into one MOA on most days. We head out next week. Pray for snow!.

300 RUM ! I was finally able to afford a semi custom Remington 700 thumbhole laminated rifle built. Krieger 28" heavy bbl, spiral fluted bbl, fluted bolt, Jewell trigger, Vais muzzle break. Loads of 91gr Retumbo, 210 Berger will shoot better than I even believe.....here's a pick of one of a couple groups at 500 yds....this caliber just SHOOTS! Shot back when the eyes were younger...rsbhunter

I was glad there was 2 guys from the gun club at the range that day, cause i didn't believe it....another group was just under an inch at 500......wish i could claim the fame, but the cartridge and rifle did the magic, i just tried to NOT screw it up.... if i was 20 or 30 years younger, id own a couple 300 RUM's.......rsbhunter

have you ever chronographed the rifle? Friends that have them are suggesting MV may be a bit, shall we say, optimistic...?

Yes, used a chrony beta, probably off some, but I've also chrono'ed 2 6.5 creeds, 6.5x284, multiple ar' s and they all seemed in the range they should be...now that you mention it, I will chronograph again...but I'm pretty sure it is right.
