My daughter Emily, age 17 said she wanted to wanted to go deer hunting so we went down to our WV property on Dec 28. Friday we went to the range on for her to shoot the Encore rifle with a 17 inch 257 JDJ barrel. She shot 20 rounds and was shooting 1.5 inch 100 yd groups with it.

Pull into the farm at 7 AM get dressed and walk 10 yds from car and I see a doe standing on pipeline right of way, 200 yds away!!!!!! By the time I explain where it is to her only for her to see a tail in the air and a deer running away from us!!! We see nothing and head back to car for lunch. Around 2:30 we're watching a another pipeline right of way and I see a deer 70 yds from us. OK E here is your chance, nice easy shot, rest your gun on the fence post.... Dad it is too CUTE to SHOOT!!!!!!! Wish I would have video taped our conservation for the next 10 minutes. E Its to small, J Tender eating, E its to small, J easy to drag, E too CUTE. I have seen German Shepard's bigger than this deer so I let E off the hook for not shooting it. I just really enjoyed our time together. We ended up going back down to WV on Monday Dec 30 for another fun filled day. Jumped 1 deer all day. Last year was the fewest deer I have every seen in my 25 years of hunting on our property. Mike that hunts property behind us said he hears coyotes 3-4 time a week. He's trapping for then and has caught 3.

Re: Father Daughter Huting Trip

Nice story! I took my Daughter and Son-in-law Duck hunting prior to the Grandchildren. We always had a great time! She said Deer were to "cute to shoot" also. I guess Ducks not so much as she said birds are different. Who was I to argue with that logic? ???

Jay,

Lots of learning in your story and pictures. She gets a good attitude toward the whole issue and all of us are the better for viewing it.

Thanks.

thx for sharing, it's a Father's love for their Daughter and a Daughters love for her Father that makes the most valuable memories on a hunting trip. we live to make those memories....

Great posts Jay and AR15!

I'm looking forward to when my daughter will be old enough to hunt with her daddy. I hope we'll have lots of positive memories to create for each other.

I love it great pictures and story What realy makes it fun is when you take your son, daughter or son hunting or your daughter, daughter. Next year I' m going to take my great grand son hunting.
