Fast Focus Why?

A lot of rifle scopes especially tactical models have the fast focus for the reticle. I don't see why these are popular. Is there something I am not thinking of? after I set up a scope I never focus the reticle again. Over the years I have had a couple one was loose enough it could get moved and a recent scope must have had play in the threads, if you looked thru the scope on a rest and wiggled the end bell of the scope the reticles would move. I guess no one is going to wiggle your scope but I didn't like that. Please tell me something positive about that feature, there are a lot of scopes with it.

thanks, Jim

Personally I think that the whole fast focus thing is marketing....to scope buyers who are not really all that sophisticated. I agree with you.

Agree, think there stupid and prefer lock rings. It's like once one mfg did it, they all did.

Illuminated reticles is another that very few people ever use or need, that just adds weight.
And wish they wouldn't put numbers on the parallax, which is an individual thing.

Think Boyd's right, marketing strategies verses practicality.

I'm with you on that. At best the numbers are meaningless (it is not a range finder) and at worst you get annoyed when parallax is gone at 100 yards and that dial says 150 !
