Fast coyote

I took a pal to one of my ranches tonight, even thought weather was supposed to be windy at 23+ and storm moving in.
Storm front is good as coyotes are usually trying to fill up before having to lay out the storm.
My pal has a AR10 in .243 with a flir thermal scope on it.
So after setting up in a blind over a dead pile he says to me, check out the new software that flir has for the thermal scope.
Yup so I am looking through it and ask him am I looking at black hot, pal says yea why.
Thwwwapp I shoot and take out this coyote.
I say that's why I needed to know.
I was laughing and asked him why he wanted me to look through it when it was aimed at a coyote that he just was looking at.
He says it wasn't in the scope a second before you looked.
Sure I could of said looks good why don't you shoot the coyote you just aimed at.
What are the chances of saying here look at this and a coyote is standing right there when I look through it.
I could not resist that shot even though I was out for him to shoot tonigh.
That was it though, wind slamed us hard right after that so we took a quick pic and headed home.
Im going to bug him on doing that for a week at least.

I shot this one here in the east over apples with a trail cam right at dark. They were coming in regular till i shot that one then it took them a while to come back but not in the same numbers. When you shoot over bait do they shy away for a while after killing one? I have the same night rig as you and reality enjoy it.You gave me all the part numbers last year. i just put out a road kill white tail 2 days ago and i went to it about a hour before dark and a big one came in right at dark. Just could not make the shot just to dark. i did not have my night rig so i slipped out to go get it and i guess i scared him when a deer snorted when i left. He was not there when i got back. I set my bait at 175 yards across a ravine. I may go back later to night.

LR at this pile they come in at regular intervals. from every 15mon to every hour-hour and a half.
I counted 15 total by 11 pm last week dinking around the pile to far out though and using the area as a hi-way to other areas.
Shooting suppressed so there is not a load bang. Many doubles & triples at this pile over the years.
Usually after 11 pm they stop coming to it until about 5am when it picks up again.
