Farley maintenance

Looking for maintenance info for this rest.
Scott hunter made me a replica and I have had it for 3 years. Im pretty sure it's time to clean it and lube it.

Thanks again to all who helped with this. I thought I had it fixed, but no. I e-mailed Farley and got an over-night reply from Mike. He sent the following instructions:

Roll Head unit all the way up on the vertical rack.(not off)

Take and loosen (not off) bottom slider plate screws.(2 small button head allen screws under head unit)

Remove large Jam nuts on spring plungers (leave spring plungers in)

Loosen spring plungers 2-3 turns

Slide joystick on and rotate assembly (will feel jerky and sloppy)

Remove handle and tighten spring plungers (fully engaged)

Fully tighten bottom slider plate screws.

Go back and loosen spring plungers 1-1.5 turns

Slide joystick on shaft (adjust tension to liking.)

Apparently the order of assembly/re-assembly is important! Following these instructions, I believe I've actually got it this time!!

Jerry, a couple items that I do to the Farley or Scott's. I would forget the tape of front of the front sliding plate. I counter bore both sides of the front sliding plate and press in acetal bushings. I take it to the mill and machine them to protrude no more that .005". The next thing that you can do is bore two vertical holes in the front sliding plate. Now machine 2 acetal plungers, you have to machine them, before you install the bag plate put a coil spring on top of the plungers and sandwiched by the bag top. This goes a long way in allowing a very light joystick and still hold a 25lb rifle.
Arnold Jewell provided the info on the lift plungers many years ago and a member of this forum suggested the acetal bushings in the front sliding plate.
Of course the Shadetree Engineering tension screws are a must.
