Farley actions ??????

what happened to him ? I purchased two actions from him. And even went to his house to pick them up ! And tried to call him years ago and no answer .

My understanding is they closed up years ago and there’s no source for parts for actions or rests.

As for Jim. He was one of the nicest men you could ever meet. And he made some great products.
But as a business man………
There was a saying in the Benchrest Community. If you ordered something, or, (God forbid), you had to send something back, you got stuck in “Farley Time”. Days became weeks, weeks became months, months became years.

By the way. My “go to” 30BR is built on a mid ‘90’s vintage Farley.

My go to 30br and possibly most accurate rifle I have is a vintage Farley in a Robertson stock as well. Still shoots 20+ x's pretty regularly if I do my part.

If you look at the bolt raceways and the relief edges in the tang, you can see the casting finish.

Ruger invited casted Farley actions at least the Black Widow 18 tpi then jim went to 16 tpi he told he should have stayed with 18 tpi

I thought Jim used the lost wax ceramic slurry method to cast his actions through the 1990’s.
The two I have are mid 1990 vintage. The one a I use on my LV, I converted to a drop port years ago. The regular R/L no eject is what I use on my VFS 30BR.
The 17-4 action bodies are probably age hardenned to H1050, judging from how difficult it was to cut the drop port slot. I had to use carbide end mills.
