Failure to fire

If a new firing pin assembly (PTG) is swapped into a functioning 40x, with a Jackson trigger, and it cocks normally, but the trigger will not release the firing pin, what is the most likely problem(s)?
The existing firing pin assembly (also PTG) works fine.

Maybe cocking piece drops down too far, not allowing it to go forward when the sear releases. Might need to grind a little off the bottom. Also could be too wide and binding in the slot that is machined for it.

I would measure everything on the two firing pins and cocking pieces and see if you can find something that is different between the two.

With the tolerances on actions these days everything aftermarket is usually on the big side and must be fit. Not sure for what part you changed it out, but id use the factory cocking piece. And the factory pin. And the factory shroud. And put in a wolff spring. Itll work perfect then

I’m pretty much in total agreement with this. This is an actual case of “asking for a friend”.

Have you readjusted the sear engagement when swapping pins? Too much engagement will keep the pin from releasing.

Sounds like the cocking piece need custom fit. I would just swap the cocking piece off the old one that works fine. --Jerry
