Failed Cartridges

When it comes to "failed" cartridges I'm much more interested in what they were trying accomplish or what the design idea was rather than whether or not it was a sales success. I've listened to John Q Public at the Academy gun counter enough times to not base my ideas on what they buy :D

One that comes to mind that I've never owned but have considered at times having a single shot chambered in it is the 308 Marlin Express. A rimmed case with those throat dimensions gives me the warm fuzzies :D

If they’d had worked a deal to get the 25/45 in the Kimber Classic, CZ 527, Tikka, etc, it would have been an all timer, even when the good Kimbers and 527 went away.

I don’t have one, but it’s a really cool little guy. I have a Lapua based 25/223 Reamer for a rainy day.

I built mine on a Remington 700. Stock is a real Harry Lawson thumb hole.
I have the proper brass from Sharps but use reformed 223 when chasing jackrabbits so I don’t feel bad losing a case.

My .223 WSSM is a real hoot to shoot, for as long as the barrel lasts, which ain't very long.....but is totally psychotic to load for. The WSSM's should probably be leading the lists of failed cartridges because of these failings among others.

I've made great use of the 358 in an AR-10. It has the best combination of MV &ME and mag capacity to be had in an AR platform.

I just got my BRC Borchardt action back from the engraver. I keep thinking 225 Win, but I'd need to buy about 250 pieces of brass and find somebody with a two reamer chambering set.

A while back a local pawn shop had one sitting on the shelf for a long time. I was tempted to give it a whirl just for the heck of it but eventually somebody bought it.

WHAT!!! I am extremely ticked off that my beloved 6.8spc did not make that list!

If Remington had not screwed up that contract it as bad as they did, it would be the replacement of the 5.56 and would have become the standard small arm that the contract called for. The target here is from a 6.8 upper I put together years ago, (2012) and it's first trip to the 100yd range. I wanted to see if it would group and it did, the two flyers are on me. That was a nine shoot group
