Fail safe bullets discontinued??

Anybody know the reason that the Fail Safe bullets were discontinued? I have used them out of my 300 wsm and took a black bear at 140 yards on a dead run and he barrel rolled then ran about 75 yards to his resting place. They seemed to perform well with a exit hole about the size of a quarter.

They discontinued them a few years ago and replaced them with a design of their own. The new XP3 is a much more reliable bullet with great expansion.

Cost too much to make the failsafe
A lot went into that bullet design. The Failsafe are very tough bullet for the heaviest of game.

I experimented with the 230 in a .338 and could never get the accuracy I wanted. A buddy used the 180 in a 300wm and shot an elk. We recovered the bullet on a broadside shot and it expanded a lot without complete penetration. Besides that, they were expensive. Probably not enough advantages over other exisiting bullets
