Factory seconds, or "blems"

Is there anywhere to get sierra seconds other than walk in at sierra? I bought a bunch when i went by there

They’ve dumped them through other sources occasionally, but it’s been ten years since I worked there. New ownership now, and a new crew pretty much all the way around, so I don’t know what may have changed. At times they wound up with a tremendous quantity of seconds, and were doing anything they could to reduce the inventory. Lots of sponsored Junior teams got pretty decent allotments, but if they could have worked out a sales program with a source like Midway or Graf’s, they probably would do it. Have to check with them to know for sure.

Blems are one thing and seconds are another.

Not in Sierra’s case. Seconds were seconds, whether they were just cosmetic defects, tolerance problems or other physical issues, they all came under the heading of seconds. As I said, there was no attempt to catagorize them, keep them separated by lot, by press or by type of defect that kept them from being boxed and sold normally. Ya pays yer money and takes yer chances, simple as that. Other makers may have a different approach, but you’d have to inquire about them directly, from each manufacturer.

I've had no problems with Nosler 2nds. Use them in several different cartridges from 223 to 264 WM. With the 264, I've taken it out to 600 with no problems. Mine are all hunting rifles though, might not be the same for someone shooting in competitions.

Confidence is a big part of accurate shooting for me. I’d rather pay more for the bullets, knowing they are THE BEST that company has to offer. In my head, it takes one more excuse for a “9” off the table.
