Factory Remington ammo primers?

Long story short… at a state match, forgot my 30-30 ammo at home, local Academy had plenty of 150gr corelocks, bought 5 boxes of 20. All 5 boxes have what look like mixed primers… anyone ever see this? Everything else looks the same but the primers…

No, but rarely buy factory ammo. One box of rifle in the last couple years. This winter a farm store had some Remington (new owners) ammo on clearance. They had one box of 30-06 165 gr tipped corelok (20.00) I just looked, all look like the Rem 9.5 primer.

You sure the store didn’t put together different boxes/lots to create a full box?
As difficult as these were to find in past couple years I wouldn’t put anything past some folks to make a dollar. Including reloads?? Never saw that before but possibly overlooked it over past 40 years.

Doubt it. It’s 5 boxes (100 rounds) of 150gr Corelocks. Brass, bullets, crimp, everything but the primers look identical. Shot 6 to verify my zero this afternoon. Seem fine so I’ll shoot for the match tomorrow. Just damn odd.

Well, it shot. Not well but wen’t bang and didn’t blow up my rifle. It’s what I get for leaving for a match with the ammo on the reloading bench…. May send some pictures to Remington and ask them wth. :)

I noticed the same thing in a box of 7mm Magnum CoreLock ammo. It didn’t shoot very well at all. This is from whoever bought the Remington ammo at the bankruptcy sale.

Rem has been in a bit of upheavl since 2020. Vista Outdoors Separated the Kinetic group off that then sold to Czechoslovak Group. Could just be part of the restructuring going on, and figuring out supply chains.

Now you guys are startin to make me nervous . Rem 7 1/2 BR's have been my ONLY Primer for the last four years . Don't buy fully assembled ammo , but don't make me think they might be screwin around with the primers . I'm down to five thousand of the last Batch of 15,000 I bought a couple years ago .
From the pictures , visually , they appeared to be the same primer , as far as shape and radius on the cup , but who knows !

I have seen this for over 25 years. It's not a new thing. I have picked up barrels of range brass. And Rem has always had this with the primers.
