Factory 6mmBR Rifle

Flouncer

What the heck it works for me !!
I quick look at the Savage site didn't turn one up. Does anyone make a NIB in 6mmbr Norma or similar ?

I never realized the Savage 6BR was so expensive.
Paul

Forum Boss: The price has increased significantly. A member of our range got one many years ago for under $800.00. It had unexplained flyers. He sent the original barrel back to Savage and they replaced it, and the gun was pretty consistent 1/2 MOA with the second factory barrel. With an premium aftermarket barrel these things were good enough to win local matches. I like the fact you have a choice between a flat-run "F-Class" stock and the slight angled "Benchrest" stock. Match the angle to your bag.

I was able to buy one, around 2013 I think, for under $600 new. I believe that the price was a mistake on the dealers website since the retail price at the time was around $1200, but surprisingly they honored it. It was a good shooter, and after a couple of years I sold it a friend for a little less than what I paid. He shot it in a few long range 600 yard benchrest matches.... and it now has a Criterion barrel also chambered in 6BR.

I would think a Mack Bros action with an Urban rifleman prefit barrel would be a better choice. Then choose exactly the type of trigger and stock that would fit the shooter best.
The thread title was “factory” 6br rifle.

I’m a Savage guy but I definitely agree that what you suggest is a much better/nicer option, but also not “factory” and not nearly in the same price range.

Op, you plan to shoot in a factory class, or just want a factory rifle? Or just curious?

For 2k I think you could be really close with a Mack Bro or Kauger and one of brads barrels and stocks…maybe a touch cheaper going that route but I would have to do math

Just curious. I have a 6mmbr PacNor barrel Mauser Model 98. I was thinking about my son who is starting to mildly scare me, talking about modding his Montana Rifle Co. wood stock in 6.5cr. I told him that is a hunting rifle, leave it alone. He has been exposed to the "bug".

Definitely a better option if a factory rifle isn’t necessary for sure.
Even though a really enjoy my Savages, there’s no way in hell I would pay that much for a new Benchrest or Fclass model! I was thinking the $1750 was msrp and not store price. Boy was I wrong. They have gone up!
I could build one for a good bit less off a savage target action, even with an Urban barrel and much nicer stock than factory.

Actually been a good while since I’ve bought a new factory rifle with intentions of leaving it that way…lol
