factory 22LR asprin shoot

I am in need of a 22LR for the factory class, at our new to the area asprin shoot. First shoot starts in a couple weeks. Whats a good shooting factory made 22LR? Or at least what rifles have the potential to shoot well? thanks Lee

What is the range, and what are the rules??

Sounds like fun!

•This is a competitive shoot – each shooter gets 20 rounds of .22 LR rimfire to shoot at 20 aspirin glued to a target posted 50 yards from the shooting benches.
•Any .22 LR rimfire firearm is permitted – last year’s winner used a borrowed Remington 40X.
•Any shooting position is permitted so long as the shooter remains 50 yards from the target.
•Any shooting aids are permitted – I.e. Optics, rests, slings etc. So long as all safety rules are observed.
•Entry fee is $20.00 per shooter.
•Included in the fee: 80 rounds of practice ammo (each shooter gets issued the same ammo for the shoot) – lunch & beverages!
this is one I am aware of.

See if you can find a Remington 541S or the 541T HB. Both are favorites of the rimfire BR crowd. Wish I had never sold my 541S, but still have the 541T and it would work very well for those asprin.

A few years ago I purchased a Winchester Wildcat 22, in the target model.. It is exceptionally accurate, and a tack driver with match ammo.. I have several thousand Federal Champion cartridges so that is what I generally use.. As far as I know this rifle is Russian made.. But it is very accurate.

I haven't seen the rule yet, but I do think there are a few separate classes. 7.5# and under, 10.5# and under then unlimited. 50 yards. that's about all I know at this point. Lee

I have a Winchester Model 52 International that sounds like it was made to order for that type of match, but I'm not parting with that beauty for anything, lol. I'll have to weigh it and see if it makes the under 10.5# class.....

MK 19 is right,
It doesn't matter what rifle you chose for a match like this, as long as it has the name Anschutz

No rifle comes close to the various Anschutz model 64 or 54 target rifles.

It boils down to one thing, how much you want to spend? $$$

CZ 452 500$
Anschutz 64 1200$
Anschutz 54 2000$

Most Olympic shooters use Anshutz rifles. It's the "gold standard"

I have seen some which were every bit as good as Anshutz makes,

I believe they were originally imported and marketed by savage, so unless abused give it a try.

I used to shoot Life Saver matches with a Kimber SVT. Object was to put as many rounds as possible thru the holes in the centers of 20 Life Savers glued to a target. This was usually shot at 100 yards too so winners were few that could get close to half their card's rounds 'in there.'

I considered it a good day if I could get one or two on a card.

Cooper..Stone cold winner.
Two guys shooting bone stock Coopers in our club against Unlimited Class and doing fine. Two rimfire shoots per months @ 75 yards. LT

skeetlee,

I think, I would find out the rules first. Some matches do not allow high end factory, like Cooper, custom shop gun, 40X, in Factory class. Also if the match issues the ammo, this levels the playing field. Anshutz, Cooper, 40X, etc would be good picks. Some factory shoot very well, with Match ammo. Savage, Remington, Ruger, and CZ, to name a few. Then if the classes are open the custom work the sky is the limit. I have a Ruger 10-22 with custom barrel the shoots lights out.

This may sound crazy but I bought one of these for $79 about 20 years ago (different model # then) the stock is ugly, the trigger is great and accuracy is insane for a $79 gun. I am sure they are a bit more now but give this gun a shot for the money. Mine shoots one hole at 50 we use to shoot primers out of empty shot shells at 50 and 22 LR box tops at 100. Still have the gun still real ugly stock but man it shoots.

Plenty of choices in the 22lr. factory rifle world. Anschütz, Walther, Feinwerkbau, Bleiker, G&E, etc. small groups cost money, how small do you want it?
