Factors that affect accuracy

Scope to rings contact. Rings to base, base to rifle contact.
Bolt lug contact
bullet tip uniformity
bullet base to ogive uniformity
case thickness uniformity
bullet weight uniformity

Just adding what could be made "more uniform" can take another page.......

- - - and we snobs who turn noses up at the spray and pray crowd thought shooting was as easy as align the sights and pull the trigger,

The OP has an impressive list of factors that need to be attended to in order to obtain reliably repeatable precision. More posts have added to the list.

Start with wind flags and build from there. Lacking them as #1 on the list of importance, the 'results' of anything else tested or tried is suspect, at best.

Good shootin' -Al
Correct, the next step is to divide those factors into groups and rank them in terms of importance.

Engineers, model the world and systems to improve the outcome of their designs
Honestly, my list would be much shorter.....things most get wrong or don't fully comprehend the value of. Believing the 'results' of testing proceedure(s) that are flawed right from their basic premise would come right behind wind flag use.

There's no hoodoo, voodoo or magic involved in this stuff. Sound basics and the application of common sense when testing gets you most of the way there.

Good shootin' :) -Al

Yes, Sir. the worse is even aftermath of that 9. was it neck tension? was my scale off 3 kernels of VV? was it primer seated to deep? was it bad wind call? was it flinching? was it all combined?
