Fabricating a magazine for a Coonan 357 pistol

OK, I will admit it- I like oddball and unique stuff but finding spare parts and accouterment can pose a problem .

I have the 2 that came with the gun when purchased and they both work flawlessly but the thought of having a couple of extras is comforting -finding one is less than successful so my question is this--Has anyone actually made a functional magazine for any oddball design pistol? I have access to a full machine shop and a friend who is skilled at fabrication but before I pose it to him I thought a trial balloon here could help me decide if it is either feasible or more trouble than it is worth and put the idea to bed.

Thanks in advance

Gary

There is no doubt that it will be more trouble than it is monetarily worth. But what the heck, you've gotta do something on these long winter nights.;) jd

Since magazines are typically made from cut sheet metal and then formed with expensive form dies, your best bet might be to get in touch with a company that does 3D metal printing. The next big challenge would be getting an appropriate spring. It can all be done. Whether it can be done economically is entirely up to you.

Thanks guys, I know that you are correct and I probably will be best served by tending to the two I have and let the heirs or whomever they pass it along to worry about it.
Guess I will have to look for something else to ponder
Your insight is appreciated

It wasn't so long ago that most of us had just one mag for whatever semi-auto we owned. I'm thinking that John Wick changed all that.:p jd

There are a couple magazines for sale on Gunbroker, but they are big $$$. For just a very few fabricated, I can't imagine they would be any less expensive. Maybe contact Mec-Gar? I believe they have produced magazines for several manufacturers.

Gary,
I may be able to help with your Coonan magazines.
Thanks,
Rick
