F/tr reamer

Can anybody with a 2103 f/tr reamed chamber tell me what the base to ogive measurement would be with 185 or 190 grain bergers. Trying to make some dummy rounds to use for lengthen the throat on a chamber reamed with a 95 Palma.

The freebore on the current reamer that Dave Kiff sells as an F-TR reamer (2013 FTR) is 0.168.

My reamer, my chamber, I measure to the ogive touching the lands with a Hornady tool at 2.235.

Berger shows the base to ogive measurment on that bullet as .560 and the 190 VLD as .640. Am I assuming correctly that if I add .080 to your measurement of 2.235 that 2.315 should give me a free bore of .168 when using the 190 Bergers. I'm trying to not cut my throat too deep and limit myself to only the heavy Bergers.

The base to ogive measurement is going to vary depending on which comparator is used, how it's used, etc. Seems like OAL (base to tip) is about as close as anything else when trying to just verbally compare this sort of thing.

So, with that disclaimer here are my measurements, from a chamber cut w/ a 2013 US FTR reamer: (170 thou freebore) base to ogive, using a Sinclair .30 cal insert, seated to a hard jam i.e. boolit won't go no mo' ;) 2.224". Base to tip aka COL of a loaded round seated to ~2.220": ~3.005"

Monte

If anyone needs any of the two types of team Reamers for 2013 Palma or 2013 F-TR we keep them on the shelf with 12 other types of old style Palma and Tactical designs . For factory type guns my favorite is the Bisley and for long range the 2013 F-TR is now king . Thanks Dave Kiff

My chamber had a 0.090 freebore and with the Hornady tool I was getting 2.233" to Ogive touching the lands firmly. 2.930" base to tip. That seems close to what gsg5pk posted about his numbers he is getting.

Remember the .168 team reamer is long and correct for that type of needed throat. A lot of folks are getting the Bisley reamer for the same bullets that need to keep them in shorter. The Bisley has .088 plus .003 tolerance so savageshooter86 has that type throat where you have the F-TR throat . Their is one hell of a difference between .090 and .168 free bore . I have both rifles one .093 and one .168 and my .168 blows the shorter rifle away at 600 and a thousand. If a person does not need the length of the team reamer I can grind it back to the Bisley but make sure you relay want to crowd the neck and shoulder junction. Thanks Dave.

That hornady tool is as bad as the old stony point tool . I cant judge free bore length for sh#t with that thing. I have throne three of those over the fence in the last 20 years. Call me and I can go over your print with you and tell you what design you have or explain how Middleton and Brian came up with these two reamers and what seating is best.

Dave,

I just got a rifle back from Gunsmith's which chamber my new barrel with your F-TR Reamer (.168 fb) but after measure my chamber with Honardy tool, I got this number.

• Berger 185 Hybrid measure from based to Ogive was 2.230" or COAL = 2.970"

Could you please re-check for me that with your recommend of .168 fb, how long to seat 185 Hybrid to touch the land.

I want to make sure that the reamer that I received from you was grind within spec or not.

That is exactly what my chamber measures to the ogive with the same reamer and 185 LRBT/Jugg/OTM using the same tool. (See my post above)

I have your prints and inspection report and job card here .Back away from the key board Pick up the phone and call me so I can read to you what you ordered back to you and tell you the difference . CALL ME DAVE KIFF AT 541-826-5808

gsg5g Great talking with you . I can not tell you how much I am pleased with my .168 free bore F-TR reamer , I push the 168 grain out to touch and add three additional grains of powder and its freaking amazing. After I talked with you last night I walked out to my 1000 yard range and shot tremendously good groups on the lands and .010 off.
