F T/R in Sacramento area

I want to try my hand at F-class and would like to know where and when I could go to practice. I recently joined Sacramento Valley Shooting Center, but I can't make any sense of their calendar. I have tried to contact some of the names listed without a response. The advice I got so far is that the highpower guys shoot on Monday's and Tuesday's, see if you can practice with them. It would be nice to shoot with some experienced F-class guys and get some tips on technique and equipment.
For now, I would be using a Savage 12 in .223, so 600 yards and under.
Anyone have a schedule?

8/12 and 9/10 are the next 3x600's at Sac. These would be the easiest to start with.
Unlimited sighters for the first round and 2 sighters for round 2/3. Lots of fun!
See Jim who usually runs the matchs and get on his email list.
The Palomino Gun Club in Sparks also shoots F.

The Long Range Steel Varmint Match there is a real hoot. Sac High Power and the Varmint Match are on the same weekend. We usually shoot steel Varmint on Saturday and F on Sunday.

Where are you from? I'm in Auburn.

Not to steal Rick300's thread (But of course I will :p),a question for swd. Please PM me or email me how I can shoot Long Ranch Steel Varmint at Sac? I too am a member at Sac (Live in Elk Grove) and hope to shoot long range steel. My only problem is I must shoot from the bench due to physical difficulties. You can email me @ toyfreak at comcast dot net or PM me and I'll give you a phone number.

Sorry Rick, resume your line of questioning. :D

Thanks for the info. I'm across the canyon from you in Pilot Hill. Both those events sound right up my alley.
The only problem I see is going to Nevada and then having to come back to Kalifornia;)
A 1:9 twist on the .223 so probably not anything past 600.

The military semi-auto match at Sacramento is fun, nice simple match every even numbered month. If you have an AR15 or 10, or garand it's all welcome. It's over on range 6, 200, 300, 385, 500 meter targets with some small bonus targets!

They have 4 classes. You can make it up to the 3rd class and only shoot to 650. The first class stops at 550. There are always a few 223's there. Come on up, it's a really fun shoot! You need a scope with decent turrets, holding over just doesn't work. Great bunch of guys up there too. The Sac High Power guys are great too and Sac usually has a BBQ lunch included.

It's a really fun match, I shoot my 6.8 AR up there out to 650 and place well. I'm building a 260AI and will eventually get it up to PVGC for the varmint match.

Rick300,

The SVSC calendar is useless unless you know it's short hand. I have attached the Folsom Shooting Club's Highpower schedule for 2017. With your gear you may be able to join in on the Folsom Specials also. I shoot 80gr pills out of my service rifle for that one occasionally. I believe prwhite will be running the August and September matches and may have a better contact list for the Monday/Tuesday crowd as well.

Cheers,
JB

Thank you! That makes a lot more sense
