F-Open Stock

Working on putting together a F-open gun. I was just wanting to get some input on the different stocks people are running and there likes and dislikes. Thanks Bill

I think that any F-Open shooter will do very well by looking at Bill Shehane's MBR Tooley Tracker stocks. Take a look, I have four of them and like them very much.

They actually work great like they are. I do however prefer a taller comb, so you can always do this.

Best suggestion I can give would be to go to a match, look at what people are using, talk to them, tell them you are stock shopping and am really interested in their stock. More often than not, they will offer you the opportunity to get behind their rifle and feel it/shoot it. Then ask yourself, am I comfortable, does this feel right, etc...

Dont buy a stock based on the "cool look" factor. Check em out in the position you will be shooting..

+1 On the Precision Rifle and Tool Lowboy Stocks. www.precisionriflesales.com . Ray Bowman is a great guy to deal with, and he has very fast turn around times. Not to mention how great the stocks look and how well they track!

Pete Petros

Ryan Pierce has some awesome stocks. Precision Rifle and Tool stocks work great as well. Manners builds a great fopen stock if you have time to wait.

Thanks for the replies. I have been looking at the precision rifle and tool stocks. One more question do many or any people run the bipods in Open class instead of the rest. Thanks Bill

++1 on the PR&T F-Class stock, both Open and F-T/R. I have four of them and they have been excellent in every way.

I have seen some great shooting by F-T/R shooters off a bipod. And, Danny Biggs was second in the 2010 F-Open Nationals shooting off a bipod and many members of the Canadian Nation Team shoot F-Open with the Henry Rempel bipod. I have shot both F-T/R and F-Open with the same rifle, barrel and load shot off a bipod and mechanical front rest and I have not seen any difference in vertical on the target. The mechanical rest is much easier to use for F-Open but use the bipod if that is what you have.
