F Open stock question

I started shooting F Class a couple of years ago. At that time being unsure of how I would like to shoot, I built a rifle using a Savage PTA and a McMillan A5 stock so that I could shoot F/TR, F Open, or even with a sling if I chose to. Well the A5 is a great stock, and I have done pretty well with it, but I have really gravitated to shooting F Open. I think that a different stock may ride the bags a little better, and am considering a new stock.

My questions for the more experienced shooters are, what are the advantages/disadvantages of a flat bottomed rear stock (parallel to the forend) as opposed to one with some slope to it? Also same question as to a rounded bottom verses a flat bottom where it rides in the bags. All responses are really appreciated.

Thanks for the recommendation. That is a great looking stock and one of the ones I am considering.

I also like the looks of the McMillan and Masterclass F Class stocks. The Masterclass apparently has a rounded bottom edge on the butstock where it rides the bags. That is one of the questions I have. What are the advantages / disadvantages of this feature?

By the way, my wallet tells me to look hard at the Stockade LRBR!

My 1000yd F-Open gun has the PR&T Lowboy stock mention above, which has a 5/8" flat. My 600yd gun has a SSS LVT stock (which is similar to the A5 in shape) which has a rounded bottom like the Masterclass. I use stock tape on both, and a custom Protektor Dr bag with a 1/2" gap between the ears. To me they track about the same.

Good to know. I thought one style would prove superior to the other. Maybe this is less of an issue than I thought. Thanks for sharing your experience.
