F-open rest

I am looking to upgrade my front rest. I like both the Farley and SEB NEO.
How low can you get with the Farley? Sometimes I have problems getting my front rest low enough on some firing points, currently the lowest I can get is about 7" from the bag to ground level.
Has anyone had problems with either of these rests?
Any insights or recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks for your help,
Ben

don't beat yourself up trying to get lower.
GO UP ON REAR BAG!!

here is what i did - purchased some balsa wood - 3 pc - 2 2x2x12 & 1 3x2x12. glued all side by side, trimed corners at 45*. glued mat rubber top and bottom.

it's extremely lite, but strong. when on an unlevel ground, you rotate the rect. blk till it 'bridges' the obstruction. never found a point i couldn't work with. ;D

habu is exactly right.

Look at the dedicated F class stocks...they are anything but low profile. BR shooters want the gun to be as low as possible...but I want my "F" class to be high as I can get it, as do most "F" class shooters that I know.. It is just way more comforatable (for me, anyway) to be up higher...better recoil management, less strain on my neck...ect..ect.. I shot my new 1000 br gun last weekend in a mid range "F" class match...it has a Shehane st1000 Tracker stock on it (low profile).....hated it, at least compared to my Shehane MBR Trackers. But no matter what I am shooting...I raise my front and rear rest as high as I can get them. I usualy can get the front rest up enough where I can actualy add two inches of wood under my rear bag to raise it up. I am going to figure out how to get it up even higher, and possably buy a dedicatted "F" class stock for one of my LR BR guns.

Thanks for the input guys. Habu it would be great if you could post a picture of your rear bag setup.
I will have to try shooting some strings at 600 with both a low position and high position to see if there is difference in the group sizes, specifically vertical. I personally don't feel uncomfortable with in a low position, it also seems more stable to me. The times where I have run into problems is when I am on a firing point that has a downward slope toward me, I have had to move my front rest way out to the downward slope of the line to get a good setup on the target. I feel it would be better to have a rest that will work at any given firing point, rather then find out I have a issue during my 3 minute prep and have to scramble to get more height under my rear bag. My Fclass rifle has the master class Fclass stock so it is pretty high to start with.

I am really hoping to hear some input on the two rests I have mentioned by people who have used one or both of them for Fclass, specifically pluses and minuses noticed for each model.

Time to do some testing ;)
Thanks,
Ben

Ben,

I know your primary question is about rests, but the other guys know what they are talking about and have the experience to back it up.

I dealt with that same issue by raising my rear bag. I wanted a bag spacer to match the footprint of the rear bag and being too fiscally responsible to buy one, I made one.. I went to the local Tandy leather store and hit the scrap bin. I got enough leather scraps to build a 1" spacer for less than 5$. Just cut it out and used contact cement to glue the leather together. Sometimes you need the spacers and sometime you dont..
